Additional Info: Petitioner files with Clerk of Court, the petitions are sent to the judge to review, if approved he will issue Ex Parte orders to the Sheriff’s Office, who will then deliver respondent to New Horizons. If criteria is met the respondent will be admitted for detox, if not, the Marchman Act order will be released. One unique thing about Martin County is that when the Judge signs off on the initial petition he automatically sets a hearing for involuntary treatment and all parties are notified of that date.
