Additional Notes: Petitioner starts by filing for Ex Parte with Manatee County Clerk of Court. If approved the Judge will sign off and send the order to the Sheriff to have the respondent delivered to Manatee Glen for assessment. If the respondent meets criteria they can be admitted for detoxification inpatient for up to five days (detox is locked unit). If they are medically compromised they may be transported to one of three local hospitals. Or if detox is needed but certain conditions exist they can be placed in outpatient detox and counseling services. Once the assessment is complete the petitioner can file for mandatory treatment ONLY if they have a letter of acceptance from a residential or outpatient program. In certain situations the physician can file for involuntary treatment.
